The Goodreads list  of Popular Incest Books contains 1,251 entries. One thousand two hundred and fifty-one entries. The Wikipedia page Incest In Popular Culture is extensive and has no less than six subcategories—documenting everything from literature, to film, to music and more. A Google search of Incest In Fiction returns a staggering 816,000 results. Unquestionably, incest is…talked about. Even if that talk is more often than not done in hushed tones.

I can’t even begin to explain the mystery, the intrigue, the fascination, or the draw incest has on others. No, I can only speak to the appeal it holds for me—and my experience with it.

Many, MANY years ago, when the hubz and I were young men, his favorite brother came for a visit. Actually, it would be the first of several visits. Those all-too-brief encounters, between the three of us, will be forever etched into my favorite memories.

When the first itches of what would become Brothers LaFon began prickling at my mind, I thought it might be interesting to take things in a different direction—far removed from those wonderful experiences I was fortunate enough to have been involved in. Indeed, what if the encounters hadn’t been beautiful? What if they hadn’t been consensual? What if there were much darker issues at play?

Alex let his jeans fall on the dingy yellow press-and-stick tiles next to his shirt. He stood naked and scared in front of his own brother and, not for the first time, thought about how fucked up the entire thing was. Normal brothers didn’t get naked in front of one another—at least not like this. Normal brothers didn’t beat one another—torture one another. No, he saw normal brothers all the time and, for the most part, they loved one another.

What resulted from that incessant itching is, hopefully, a complex story about the relationship between two brothers. A story where one brother’s needs are nothing short of heinous, while the other’s are kind, and benevolent, and pure. A story where there’s a ‘captor’ and a ‘captive’. A story where one individual holds all the power while the other is powerless. And finally, a story about desperation and obsession. Oh, and just to spice things up a bit, there’s also a bit of naughty brother-on-brother action. *winks*

So, if you’re in the mood for a dark, gritty, disturbing read, then perhaps consider picking up a copy of Brothers—after you’ve read ALL the tags and warnings!

Here’s to letting your freak-flag fly in all its glory! *grins*

Peace,
JLT =)
